Background and Education
Dr. Sherry Sabet grew up in California and received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine where she graduated with honors. She then ventured out to the east coast and pursued a master’s degree in Biological Science at Drexel University College of Medicine.
She continued on to the University of Pennsylvania, an internationally renowned Ivy League school, and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree. Returning back to California, she completed her specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where she also earned a Master of Science degree. Dr. Sabet is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Patient care and the delivery of quality orthodontic diagnosis and treatment is Dr. Sabet’s top priority. Dr. Sabet prides herself on her proficiency in up-to-date evidence-based techniques and cutting-edge technologies including Cone Beam CT. Having extensive training and use in the application of 3-D imaging, Dr. Sabet is able to evaluate the entire orofacial complex and address your orthodontic treatment needs comprehensively.
Dr. Sabet is a member of many local and national dental and orthodontic associations including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and Orange County Dental Society.
Research
Dr. Sabet has been involved in research throughout her educational endeavors. She was published in an article titled “Ability of optical coherence tomography to detect caries beneath commonly used dental sealants” and has co-authored a book chapter on optical coherence tomography in oral cancer detection. While at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, she was involved in cleft palate research. In pursuit of excellence in the field of dentistry, she was selected as one of a small group of students that were awarded admission into the Clinical Honors Program. She then presented at the research symposium her advanced treatment techniques in a complicated multi-disciplinary case.
Outside the Office
Dr. Sabet also feels strongly about being involved with and giving back to her community. She has run community dental clinics, organized and lead outreach camps, served as an executive board member of the Oral Cancer Walk in Philadelphia and volunteered in hospitals and homeless shelters. The diversity of her professional and community activities have allowed her to link her passion for the sciences with that for the humanities, providing her the tools to become an effective educator, clinician, and leader able to interact and communicate with adults and children from all walks of life.
In her spare time, Dr. Sabet enjoys hiking, cooking, movies, discovering new places to visit, and spending time with friends and family.
